newspectives: Opening on 16 April 2026 at the Alfried Krupp Kolleg in Greifswald

Microbiologist Dr Marie-Katherin Zühlke, artist Susanne Gabler and I are currently in the midst of preparations for our exhibition ‘newspectives – Marine Ecosystems in Transition’, which will open on 16 April 2026 at 6 pm at the Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg Greifswald. We have been working together since 2023, developing presentation formats that promote the communication of scientific content and foster dialogue. The exhibition focuses on transformation processes in our oceans caused or accelerated by human influence, as well as questions about how we, as humanity, deal with them.

The exhibition and accompanying programme of events are aimed primarily at an audience with an interest in science. On display will be an installation, paintings, prints, objects and an augmented reality (AR) piece. On the opening night, we will present our lecture performance ‘unsweet candy – Molecular cuisine with algal sugars’. There will also be a public guided tour of the exhibition on 19 June 2026 at 5 pm. We will bring the exhibition to a close with our performance ‘At Mascha Kaléko’s, it’s ‘In my dreams, a storm is brewing’; in mine, the waves are crashing’ and the lecture ‘Transformation and adaptation of seagrass through time, from the age of dinosaurs to the modern Baltic Sea’ by microbiologist Dr Mia Bengsston, as part of a closing event on 25 June 2026 from 6 pm.

Here is an overview of all the events:
