The performance day on the theme of ZEITSPRÜNGE took place in mid-July 2024 in and around the CUBIC artspace on Karl-Marx-Platz in Greifswald. In perfect weather and with a varied programme, the art-cube – Raum für zeitgenössische Kunst e. V. association staged a very special event as part of the Caspar David Friedrich anniversary celebrations.
Eight artists and two duos developed performative works on various aspects of Friedrich’s oeuvre and presented them on the day of the event. As one of them, I was invited to show my performance changing slowly on the CUBIC stage. This thematised the nature of change processes. Both individual and social developments need certain periods of time to be realised and ultimately become effective. They cannot be realised overnight. Through movement and painterly interventions, the performance conveys impressions of what it can be like to have time and to engage in an open process.
The art-cube will soon be presenting a review of the event – first online, later in print. I will announce the publication in my posts and in my newsletter. Until then, you can get an impression of the performance in my picture gallery.
Participating artists: Ted Behrens, Astrid Brünner, Yvonne Dombrowski, Marie Donike & Johannes Specks (Duo), Janine Gerber, Kapella – Karen Kunkel & Peter Tucholski (Duo), Anne Marte Overaa (Sweden), Stefanie Rübensaal (Switzerland), Marcus Schramm, Pauline Stopp.
The project was funded by the University and Hanseatic City of Greifswald, the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media and Studio Galerie Greifswald.
